"The Odds Have Never Been in Our Favor" (Zechariah 12:1-9) - Daily Manna - 08/20/26

The odds have never been in our favor—and that has always been the point. From Egypt to Jericho, from Gideon’s 300 to the last-days picture of Jerusalem surrounded by the nations, Scripture repeatedly places God’s people in situations where human strength simply is not enough. Why? Because our deliverance has never depended on having better numbers, greater resources, or stronger armies. It depends on ADONAI.

In Zechariah 12:1–9, God’s people are once again surrounded and hopelessly outmatched. But before describing the threat, ADONAI reminds them who He is: the One who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit within humanity. The God who has come through before will come through again.

This teaching challenges us to stop needing the odds to be in our favor before we trust God. His track record is faithfulness. When we are outnumbered, outmatched, and unable to rescue ourselves, He is still enough.
