"When Compromise Threatens Shalom" (Numbers 25:1-13) - Shabbat - 07/11/26

Rabbi Cosmo Panzetta

True peace is not found by making room for compromise — it is found by returning fully to ADONAI.

In Numbers 25, Israel stands on the edge of promise, blessed by God and protected from every curse. But when the enemy cannot destroy God’s people from the outside, he works to seduce them from the inside. Through the story of Pinchas and the b’rit shalom — the covenant of peace — we see the danger of compromise, the seriousness of sin, and the mercy of God revealed through Yeshua, who was pierced so that we could have shalom with God.

This teaching calls us to let the Lord search our hearts, root out sin, and bring us back under the canopy of His blessing and protection.
