"Whose Will Whose Delight is Driving My Spiritual Pursuit" (Isaiah 58:1-5) - Daily Manna - 04/14/26
What if your spiritual pursuit is still being driven by your own will?
In Isaiah 58:1–5, God confronts a kind of religion that looks serious, disciplined, and devoted on the outside—but is still centered on self underneath. This teaching explores the piercing question behind fasting, prayer, and every spiritual practice: Whose delight is really driving it? Is it about drawing near to God to be shaped by the delight of HIS heart, or subtly trying to get Him to respond to what delights our hearts?
This is a sobering and needed message about the deceptiveness of empty religion, hidden selfishness, the danger of spiritual performance, and the Lord’s desire to form in us hearts that truly hear and obey. If you’ve ever wrestled with disappointment in your spiritual life, or wondered whether your pursuit of God has become more outward than inward, this teaching will challenge and search you deeply.
