What happens when God puts the idols on trial… and they have nothing to say? In Isaiah 42:1–4, the courtroom scene continues—but this time the LORD doesn’t just cross-examine the “action figures” of the nations. He steps onto the stand Himself…and He answers.

This teaching opens the first Servant Song of Isaiah and reveals the surprising way God brings mishpat (justice/governance) to the world: not through dominance, noise, or self-promotion—but through His Servant, filled with the Spirit, gentle toward the bruised reed, and faithful to reignite the smoldering wick. If you’ve felt crushed, disheartened, or like your calling is over—this passage is a hope-filled reminder: nothing is too far gone, and the LORD is still at work.
