Why do we treat God like a last resort—after Egypt fails, after the “fast horses” don’t come through, after every workaround collapses?

In Isaiah 33:1–6, Judah faces a destroyer at the gates, and God’s message is blunt: “That’s what I’ve been saying all along.” The betrayer will be repaid. The oppressor won’t stay untouchable. And the moment God rises, that which terrified you scatters.

This teaching connects Isaiah’s warning to Hezekiah’s crisis (2 Kings 18–19) and the deeper pattern of evil: it takes your payment and still comes for you. But the Lord is waiting to be gracious—and when His people finally pray, He answers.

If you’ve been leaning on a “splintered reed,” this is your invitation to return to the only true stability: “He will be the stability of your times… a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of Adonai is His treasure” (Isa. 33:6).
