"Well this is a Problem. I Wonder WHO Will Solve it." (Isaiah 51:17-23) - Daily Manna - 03/19/26
What happens when the consequences of our own sin finally catch up with us?
Isaiah 51 describes a people who have been brought low—not by chance, and not merely by enemies, but by the weight of God’s righteous discipline. They have drained the cup of His wrath, collapsed under the consequences, and now face a devastating reality: there is no one left who can lead them forward. No king, no prophet, no human solution.
In Isaiah 51:17–23, God calls His people to wake up and stand—but then reveals the stunning truth that the only one who can remove the cup, defend His people, and bring comfort is God Himself. This passage sets the stage for the greatest question in Isaiah: How will God remove His wrath while still remaining just? The answer is revealed as the prophet leads us toward the Servant in Isaiah 52–53.
