"The Prayer of the Committed Trainee" (Ps. 26) - Daily Manna - 06/26/26

Spiritual formation sounds beautiful—until the training begins.

In Psalm 26, David prays a bold and vulnerable prayer: “Probe me, ADONAI, and test me; refine my mind and my heart.” This is not the prayer of someone trying to prove how righteous he is. It is the prayer of a committed trainee—someone who truly wants to walk in integrity, be searched by God, and become what ADONAI has called him to be.

We often want the outcome of transformation without the uncomfortable process that forms us. But the Lord’s testing is not meant to destroy us. His chesed—His covenant love—is before our eyes, and because we trust His heart, we can ask Him to reveal what is really in ours.

This teaching walks through Psalm 26 and the life of Peter to show how God’s refining work exposes, restores, and forms us into people who do not merely look like Yeshua on the outside, but become like Him from the depths of who we are.
