The shofar is sounding—and its message is simple: Wake up. Listen. Return to God. 

Rosh Hashanah, biblically called Yom Teruah—the Day of Alarm—is more than the beginning of a new year. It is a call to open the ears of our hearts and hear the voice of ADONAI. Through the sounds of the shofar, we are reminded that God is King, God is Judge, and He is calling His people to repentance, trust, and obedience. 

Journey through the meaning of the tekiah, shevarim, and teruah; the Akedah—the binding of Isaac; and the ram God provided as a substitute. That powerful picture ultimately points us to Messiah Yeshua, the sacrifice God Himself provided for our sin. 

God has not stopped speaking. Sometimes His voice reassures us, sometimes He announces that something is changing, and sometimes He sounds the alarm: Wake up! Turn around! Return to Me! 

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” (Heb. 4:7) 

Hear the shofar. Hear the voice of the King. Hear His loving call to turn from death and receive life.
